Going Home 2-18-12

Saturday it was time to head home. We got up at 6am (11pm on Friday night in the States) to load up and head to the Airport. Josh's car was still not working so Birgit and Josh rode with train with us to the airport. It actually worked out very well because of all our luggage and the amount of hands we had. We greatly appreciate their willingness to ride and help us.

Birgit, Lillie, & Josh on the train.

Silly Lillie

Annie still waking up on the train.

The girls did pretty well on the plane for 9+ hours. They colored and played with their toys. Annie had a great time walking around the plane - she even started flirting/playing chase with one of the stewardess. We landed a little after noon with a four hour layover in Chicago before heading home. Unfortunately, Chicago could not get our luggage door open for over 2 hours (something about the door being frozen shut and they had to manually open... why Chicago is unable to open a frozen door is beyond me what I digress...) Finally, after two hours we had to run, get our luggage, go through customs, get luggage checked, go through security, get to our gate, and grab a bite. The girls were starving and we couldn't leave our little area until our bags arrived. We made it with about 30 minutes to go and with soft pretzels in our tummies. We loaded our last plane and headed to Memphis. The girls were completely wiped out. Annie passed out on Jeremy once we were in the air and Lillie threw up on me... twice. The plane was very hot, tiny, and bumpy. I think it was mainly exhaustion. We had been up for almost 20 hours by now and Lillie had slept for 30 minutes in all that time. We finally got out of all the planes, waited for my parents to pick us up, and the headed for our beds. We were obviously all worn out and looking forward to our beds.
