Last weekend, the Ireland's came to watch Lillie while Jeremy and I were suppose to fly to New Mexico for a law school friend's wedding. We were to head out Friday afternoon and get back Sunday night. We were really looking forward to a weekend away, seeing old friends, visiting a new city and state, and probably most importantly sleeping in on Saturday morning!
Unfortunately, we received a phone call at 8:30am that our flight had been canceled due to the icy weather. Jeremy began the waiting game with the airline to get us on another flight. He was eventually able to get us on the 5:30pm flight out of Memphis. However, at 10:45, we received another phone call from the airline saying that the flight had been canceled. Jeremy again began searching for a flight out of Memphis, Nashville, Little Rock, and several small Mississippi air ports. He was only able to find one out of Little Rock and the rest couldn't get us out until Sunday morning. Late Friday afternoon/night, another layer of ice came and there was no way we thought we could get to Little Rock. We had to give up on our weekend alone at least for the time being.
Even though we were not able to get away, we did have a nice weekend with the Irelands. We ordered pizza on Friday night and Saturday we were able to play in the "snow" (which was mainly ice). There was a very thin layer of snow on top of the ice that we were able to play in for a bit but definitely not the fun snow that we would have hoped for especially since it ruined our trip out. We were able to get some cute pictures of Lillie and she seemed to really enjoy herself for awhile at least! Here are a few pictures from our adventures!
Lillie was a little uneasy walking on "snow" so she wanted me to carry her. It was a bit uneasy because it was piles of ice and you would walk on it and it split like a piece of glass - it was kind of weird to walk on so I don't blame him not wanting to walk on it.
We moved over to the ditch fence thinking we could make some snow balls. You can see where we thought it would be covered with good snow for snow balls but it wasn't. There was a dusting and underneath was about 2 inches of ice. This is our attempt at making snow balls.
Lillie is holding about all we could use to make two snow balls. She thought it was hilarious to throw at Daddy! It cracked her up!
Our attempt at a family shot. It made the blog because I picked the wrong one to download and since I have such a hard time getting the pictures on here I couldn't bring myself to erase it.
A much better picture! Our family of three. (Promise I'm not quite as large as I look in this picture!)
Lillie really liked the icicles (sp?). She pulled them off the cars and garbage can. As you can tell by her cheeks, this was the end of our snow adventures. But she loved the icicle and had to show everyone what she found. She even tried to take it back inside with us but we had to convince her to leave it on the car port wall. Luckily, she forgot about it because it was gone the next day.
Warming up with Mimi and Gramps before they headed back home. We all had a great time visiting with the Ireland's... especially Lillie! She definitely has all her grandparents wrapped around her finger!
